Re: Nobody wants to be a retard.
Captivating title for a bad reason. Semitics aside, I think you have internalised ableism (coming from an autistic person). People are disabled *because* the world is not for them. Autism often have comorbid mental health conditions as well so I think getting adequate support- an autistic affirming medical professional does make a difference. Putting a label on a condition can help professionals be specific and understand how to work with you. Take care

Yes, that was my idea with the title. It is not meant to be a 'good' one.
I very much do have internalized ableism, it is a constant topic in my journals (which right now I rarely have time to type out in bearblog anymore, sadly). I would never look down on someone else with the same diagnosis but I am unable to extend the same grace to myself. It is a work in progress. One step forward and two steps back whenever something that I deem as 'catastrophic' happens. I have yet to find a mental health professional who is autistic affirming, my last experience with someone who markets themselves as 'specialized in autism' was so bad I physically cannot bring myself to try again. This is also another work in progress. Thank you for taking the time to read and leave another message. Take care as well
